‘A great success for a wonderful year group.’ That was the view of Kilkenny College Principal Mr. Simon Thompson following the issuing of this year’s Leaving Certificate. ‘The students more than fulfilled their potential. Congratulations to each and every one of them’, he continued.

A dozen students achieved 600 Points or higher with two attaining a maximum 625 CAO Points. 63% of the year group achieved 400 CAO Points or higher. The national average score was 330 CAO Points. At Kilkenny College it was 424 CAO Points. Nationally 9% of students attained 500 CAO points or higher, here the figure was 29%

There was a tremendous spread of Honours A grades in a year where these have reduced somewhat nationally, which is pleasing and our Maths grades continue at twice the national average.’

Mr. Thompson expressed his thanks to all those who taught the students during their time in the College and was grateful for the tremendous support of the parents/guardians of all concerned. He concluded ‘The collective effort of all concerned has brought fulfilment and success to a tremendous group of young women and men. We all wish them every future success.
