EASTER ROUND-UP 2006 - 2007

The hockey season finished with a flourish at the end of the Easter term. The Minor B league final was played against Loreto Wexford. The college girls survived a very tough game and won 2-1, with goals from Claire Mullholland and Tanya McGahey. The team was captained by Isabelle Cairns and coached by Ms Houlihan. The Junior Bs, coached by Ms Fraser, also had qualified for their league final against Loreto Kilkenny. After a first half with equal chances the KCK side then took command and scored three goals one from Captain Sarah O’Neill, and the other two who found the net were Kate Shepherd and Eleanor Power. The Inter As were the only team to make a cup final when they played Ursuline Waterford. This proved a difficult game but the Kilkenny girls kept their noses in front to win the cup with a 2 -1 scoreline. Goalscorers were Kiva Stanley and Katelyn Beattie, captain Amanda Williams and coached by Ms Woodroofe.

The Senior Bs, captained by Vic Hamilton and coached by Ms Duncan with one section in their league had to go to goal difference with St Declan’s of Kilmacthomas before the league was decided. The last league match away to Bunclody proved to be decisive with 6 goals coming in the second half to give them the goal advantage they needed to win the league.  The 3 Minor teams hosted Wesley for matches at the end of term, there were good wins for the As and Bs both with a 1-0 score-line and the Cs drew.

The Seniors went down 0-1 to their old rivals Loreto Wexford in the semi-finals of the South East Cup. They had beaten Newtown in the first round of the cup .
